AT last progress is being made on our new roof !

The scaffolding is in place and we are hoping the weather remains kind enough to enable it to be finished in good time. Walking past Church last week I spotted an amazing rainbow spanning the whole roof , had the scaffolding not been there it would have been a perfect photograph! It was a definite stand back and reflect in awe and wonder moment .

Although we haven’t been able to hold all our usual events it was lovely to have the Church open once more to visitors last weekend. We had our doors open to greet the bikers and walkers taking part in the Ride and Stride which helped raise money for the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust who we are very grateful to as they have provided grants to us in the past and indeed for our new roof. But Saturday was also the launch of our Tile to Remember when we invited you to come and donate a tile in memory of a special occasion or person. So we would like to send our sincere thanks to those who made donations for tiles. The total raised so far is almost £800, but we have plenty of tiles left if you would like to participate, it isn’t too late. We also were pleased to see our regular friends at the Book Fair as we haven’t had one for a while. People commented on how they had missed them and our not opening due to the roof work. So we have decided we will open the Book Area in Church each Saturday morning in September and October between 10am and noon so you don’t miss out! Refreshments will be available as will tiles if you missed the launch. And so even if the Church doesn’t quite look itself the welcome will still be the same!

Our services are still taking place each Sunday at 11am and this week it was especially lovely to welcome the Headmistress, staff, girls and parents from Malvern St James School. It was a lovely, happy service with Canon Harold Goddard and Reverend Kim Taplin, our thanks to them both and very much enhanced by the lovely singing from the choir and, again, thanks to Lynne Lindner.

Looking ahead please put a date in your diary for our Macmillan Coffee Morning which is being held in our Church Hall on Friday, September 25 between 10am and noon . We would love to raise a good amount for this invaluable charity. As an added attraction this year you can hear from Valerie Nielson, all the way from Canada. Valerie will be speaking about her recently published book Over the Top which tells of her grandparents who lived in Malvern and her grandfather has his name on our War Memorial. So coffee and cakes and friends are waiting for you at 10am on Friday, September 25, help us make a difference.

As ever, we look forward to seeing you.
