A GROUP of like-minded gentlemen called the Bar Leaners have been raising money again for charity and this time it was a lot less energetic than the Bar Push over the Malvern Hill’ and not as hairy as Movember, both of which have been part of their recent fundraising activities.

For the first time in their 32 year existence, the Bar Leaners organised a prize draw during the Pimms Reception of their Summer Ball, where they raised over a £1,000 for the County Air Ambulance.

James Pugh, Chairman of the Bar Leaners was in shock with the amount raised. James commented “The Summer Ball is normally a free event for our guests. However, even after the prize draw had taken place, people kept putting money into the donation pot. It was very generous of them and all for a fantastic cause”.

Midlands Air Ambulance invited the Bar Leaners to their Strensham base to hand over the cheque and were shown around the facilities.

Also, Farmer Parker, a veteran Bar Leaner and member of Bromyard RFC, presented another cheque for £400, which the rugby club raised at one of their events.

Fundraising Manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Susie Godwin, sincerely thanks the Bar Leaners for their generous donation to support the work of the Air Ambulance crew. She said: “With no government or Lottery funding, we need in excess of £6.5 million to keep our three helicopters operational in six counties, Saving Lives by Saving Time.”
