DID you know that the Welland Whist Drives have turned up trumps and recently sent a cheque to the Acorns Hospice of £1,000?

They have raised this over the last eighteen months. What an achievement! The Welland Whist Drives are held in the Village Hall on alternative Tuesdays. They start at 7.30pm and there is a small charge of £2 to include tea/coffee. So if you feel you would like to play a hand or two and also help to raise money for Acorns, the next one is on Tuesday, September 1, then every alternative Tuesday after that. For more details please contact 01684 564334.

The Tuesday Club will not be closed on September 1 but September 8.

Just Clobber is closed until September 8. The CAB will be closed until September 8 as well.

The popular Flea Markets in St James' Church are starting again on Saturday, September 5. Open from 9am until 3pm. The markets are held on the first Saturday of each month up to and including April. The tables are £5 and to book, ring me on 01684 310289.

Friday is coffee and chat time in St James'. Everyone is welcome for a free coffee/tea and a chat; we will be glad to meet you. It is from 10am until 12.30pm and If you have any news for the Gazette, I will be there to listen.

Only two more Sundays of cream teas at St James'! How will I manage! The last Sunday will be Sunday, August 30 (Bank Holiday weekend) from 3pm until 5pm.

And lastly don't forget the Dog Show tomorrow on the recreation ground. It starts at 1pm.
