THE annual Malvern Residents in Bloom competition was judged recently – RHS judge Bill Simpson, and the Mayor, Cllr Julian I’Anson, spent a very pleasant day visiting the many Malvern residents who’d entered their gardens into the competition, which was sponsored by Waitrose.

The Mayor said ‘I was impressed by the gardens that lay hidden behind their owners’ houses. Creativity and hard work was very much in evidence.’

The Mayor also commented that he was excited to see young gardeners starting out with a little knowledge and creating charming courtyards, in particular a courtyard on Cowleigh Road, which was being enthusiastically experimented upon.

The winners for this year’s Residents In-Bloom competition are listed below.

Malvern Town Council is excited to announce a public prize-giving which will take place on Sunday, August 30, during the Bands in the Park concert in Priory Park, and we hope that many will come and show their support to the keen gardeners whose skills make Malvern such a lovely place to live. As it’s the bank holiday weekend, it’s the perfect opportunity to make an afternoon of it – bring a picnic, enjoy the Malvern Salvation Army Band’s concert from 2.30pm until 4.30pm and see Malvern’s gardeners receive their prizes from the Mayor.

The winners of the 2015 Malvern Residents In Bloom competition are:

Best Front Garden – Brian Strain; Best Rear Garden – Mr & Mrs Bough; Best Courtyard Garden – Mrs Celia Goldswain; Best Hanging Baskets and Containers – Mr & Mrs Eaton; Best Communal Garden – Clarence Park Residents’ Association; Most Innovative Garden – Mrs Betty Mills.
