THERE will be a choice of musical events in West Malvern next Saturday, July 25.
The Gloucester Waits will be performing a concert of early instrumental music at St James's Church in aid of the organ fund. It will include introductions to such exotic instruments as crumhorns, English bagpipes and the hurdy gurdy. Tickets £8 on the door to include refreshments, and the concert will begin at 7.30pm,
Half an hour earlier, at 7pm, down at its ground adjoining the beautiful gardens of Mathon Court, the Cricket Club will be starting its Music Night. The music will come from the UnderCoVers and there will be a pig roast and bar, admission £7.50 on the gate. The following day, Sunday, July 2h, WMCC will play a President's XI in a challenge match starting at 2pm.
Sadly, that morning will also see the last of the Sunday breakfasts at the Brewers Arms as the wind-down towards Sue Adamson's much-regretted departure begins. The Curry Nights will however continue until further notice.
Sunday, July 26 will also be the occasion for the Patronal Festival service at St James's Church at 10.30am, in honour of the apostle after whom the church is named. So you could even make a day of it, have breakfast at the Brewers, then go to church and enjoy an afternoon at the cricket!
