IN early June some of our members enjoyed a trip to Bowood House and Gardens in Wiltshire.

This Grade 1 Georgian House is famous for its Italianate Terrace Garden and Capability Brown Park and Arboretum. There is also a two mile rhododendron walk which is at its best in May and June. The property won the Historic Houses Association Garden of the Year in 2014.

On Monday, June 22 nearly 100 members visited the delightful medieval moated manor house of Birtsmorton Court near Castlemorton. We were welcomed by Mrs Rosalie Dawes who took us on a conducted tour. Dating back to the 13th century, the Court has many different styles of architecture. The gardens are beautiful with borders of peonies, roses and scented shrubs. A final treat was having refreshments on the terrace overlooking the moat.
