IT promised to be wonderful and it didn’t disappoint!

On a balmy summer’s evening , accompanied by a very civilised Pimms and lemonade, we heard something new again in Christ Church, as we listened to Harriet Earis and Clovis Williams on Saturday, June 20. What an experience, we were totally enthralled. it was billed as Celtic harp meets jazz guitar but it was more a case of they met, married and lived happily ever after! The two instruments just simply flowed , flying from Celtic to Irish to Scottish to ancient hymns and with a lovely informative commentary for the audience it was so vibrant. Showcased perfectly in the lovely surroundings of the Church and its acoustics it made for a hugely enjoyable and intimate experience. The speed with which Harriet’s fingers crossed the strings was phenomenal and they both so obviously enjoyed it, they positively effervesced with enthusiasm as a member of the audience said .We are so fortunate to be able experience such talent in Malvern, Harriet has played at the Royal Albert Hall and O2 Arena in London and Clovis complimented all the pieces with his intuitive playing, we so hope they will return.

And so we continue our programme of events on Saturday, July 4 when we have our Book Fair from 10am to noon, with our usual extensive selection and then in the evening at 7.30pm we have the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra who will give their first performance at Christ Church, A Summer Chamber concert and a programme which includes Mozart – Don Giovanni Overture, Haydn – Cello Concerto in C major , Mozart – Flute Concerto in D major & Beethoven – Symphony No. 1 .
