THE May meeting was the occasion for the Annual Meeting, and also for consideration of the Resolution to go before the National Annual meeting at the Royal Albert Hall in London on June 4.

The President opened the evening with a welcome to all, particularly to Sue White WI Adviser. The minutes of the previous meeting, correspondence and notices were dealt with. It is necessary to recruit new members, and to this end a flyer has been produced which, with members help, will be put through every door in the village. It draws attention to the fact that members do not just meet once a month, but that there is more of interest, and particularly the opportunities to hear speakers of good calibre at Worcestershire WI county events.

The election for the new President and committee then followed. Joy Hadley is to be the new President, and she thanked Doreen and Barbara (secretary) for all their hard work on their retirement. Joy looks forward to fulfilling her role with the help of members and committee.

Louise Jones then introduced the Resolution which was discussed at length. It was passed unanimously, but the representative, Doreen, was given discretion to be used if appropriate at the meeting in London.

The next meeting is on June 4 when Ray Durnall with give a talk, People and Places – Powick and Callow End, at Callow End Village Hall at 7 30pm. This will be of great interest. All are very much welcome. Visitors £3.50, refreshments included. Enquiries to 01905 831655.
