LEIGH & BRANSFORD WI

ELLEN welcomed members and also Pat Jukes, who had come along to act as adviser for the Annual Meeting element on Tuesday, May 5.

Members were informed that afternoon tea has been booked for June 30 to celebrate the 80th anniversary, and that an additional date would be arranged later in the year for those unable to attend on that date.

Shelagh Willis confirmed she is prepared to co-ordinate any possible entries for the competition at the Annual Federation Meeting to be held on October 20 and anyone interested in exhibiting will be invited to a meeting in due course.

Marilyn Harding was presented with the cup for the monthly competition and members were reminded that Sue Jones is organising a collection of milk bottle tops for the blind on an ongoing basis.

Birthday posies were presented to Sue Cuff, Pauline Smith and Carol Gover, and a posy was also presented to the annual meeting adviser. Pauline Smith, who has acted as treasurer for 14 years, was presented with the lovely table arrangement in recognition of her long period of service.

During the Annual Meeting element the following members were elected to the committee; Denise Fereday, Ellen Gwynne, Catherine Hall, Angela Pulford, Elaine Shaw and Ann Sharp with Ellen Gwynne being elected President for the next 12 months.

Members were then able to take part in the competition for the evening – trying to fit members names to their photographs as children, which proved extremely difficult! Sue Jones and Gill Gardiner were joint winners.

Date of next meeting – June 2– when Catherine Clark will talk about My Life and Hats – For further information on our WI Group ring Ann Sharp, 01886 833844.
