RIPPLE AND EARL’S CROOME WI

THIS was the annual meeting so there was no speaker.

Members began, as ever, welcoming those who had joined that evening.New friends from Earl’s Croome, a new member, Liz Brewer, Gill Saint has joined the committee, which is good as fresh ideas are needed and Mary Lou Lockyear, who had come to officiate on the voting members had to do later in the meeting.

At the back of the hall were tables full of beautiful plants and jams and cakes to be sold in aid of ACWW. On another table was the prettiest array of what looked like clothes for baby dolls but which were bonnets, matinee jackets, bootees and gloves which have been knitted by the Knit and Natter group for the premature baby unit in Swindon hospital.

Members talked of the other groups, the walkers arranged another trip around the surrounding area and the book club are due to meet this week.

Members discussed their recent trip to Kinver Court and were invited to join a skittles team and an outdoor, summer meeting in August.

The next meeting will be an art class, which should be fun!

Finally, members were asked to vote on the WI national Resolution.

The teas were, as usual, lovely and it was good to be able to make friends with the Earl’s Croome compatriots.

The evening finished with the sale of plants and other donated items.
