UPTON UPON SEVERN WI

A MEETING of the Hot Peppers was held on April 22 at the Fire Station in Minge Lane.

This took a completely different form as it was outdoors. Members had had permission to plant the flower bed in front of the station and came prepared with forks, spades, trowels and plants. By the time darkness fell, the plot looked very admirable with WI as the focus of the design. Various seeds had been planted in pots and boxes in readiness to be sold at the Blues Festival on July 17-19 and the Sunshine Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Members retreated indoors for the business part of the evening and to enjoy drinks and scrumptious cakes which had been provided by the new Secretary, Mary Skeys.

On Saturday, April 25, fifteen members travelled to London to visit the V & A museum for what was a thoroughly enjoyable day. On arrival they were escorted around the fashions area where their guide gave a very detailed account. Many then had lunch and proceeded to other departments. The jewellery area was a popular venue. Wow, what a glittering display - the size and style from all ages was really dazzling. Everyone came to the conclusion that this has been a visit well worth the time.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 27 at the Upton Museum at 7.15pm. The Life and Times of Lavender Beard. Do come for what promises to be a very interesting evening.
