GARDEN & Nature Club members who braved the inclement weather for their January meeting were rewarded by a remarkable presentation on Alpines and Low Growing Perennials by Julie Ritchie of Hoo House Nursery near Tewkesbury.
Her vast experience and intimate knowledge, gained from 30 years of specialisation, showed through her sparkling exposition of the charms - and limitations - of around 80 different subjects. Excellent slides and expert advice on soil, sun and moisture requirements kept members' attention throughout the full hour's talk, which Julie delivered without notes.
The Club's next meeting on Tuesday, February 17 will feature Leila Jackson on The Versatile World of Salvias, while the ever-popular annual dinner will take place at the Brewers Arms on Friday, March 20. Early booking – by the next meeting at latest - is advised, as the number of places is limited to 30.
