A CONGREGATION comprising worshippers from across the Benefice of Longdon, Castlemorton, Bushley and Queenhill gathered at St Gregory's on Sunday to celebrate Organist Edward Lane's 50 years of dedicated service in supporting these four parishes.

Edward chose all the hymns for the Advent Family Service and played his favourite pieces beforehand and afterwards. After the service, during which The Revd. Chris Moss preached about the importance of music as part of worship, we enjoyed sparkling wine, canapés and a special cake made and iced in Edward's honour. He was then presented with a gift from all the parishes in recognition of his long service.

Later that evening, friends joined Edward in listening to J S Bach in the ecclesiastical setting of St Gregory's. It is fitting that our local organist continues to be inspired by one of the greatest organ composers of all time.

Our Christmas service of Holy Communion is at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. All are welcome to join us at St Gregory's to celebrate Jesus' birth as Christmas Day begins.
