CHRISTMAS is coming and flower arrangers will be busy so we sat back and enjoyed an excellent and beautiful demonstration by Delyth Price.

The first arrangement was created in a long contained with hanging golden baubles. Gold sprayed twigs and different foliages formed a frame for tall peach amaryllis, lovely orange roses, green leucodendron and orange carnations. Gold sprayed aspidistra leaves, pine cones and an orchid completed this design.

The next arrangement was staged on a white curved stand to follow the shape of the Holgarth design, with three silver bells hanging. palm was used to accentuate the line, with ruscus foliage and sprayed fatsia leaves. Pale yellow carnations and golden yellow roses glowed against golden privet and other fresh foliages.

Music was played as each arrangement was completed. This time a carol reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas.

A winter scene was created on a metal cassette stand with a white top, and dressed with white and silver hanging tinsel. Tall pale amaryllis were placed centrally with short canes to support the stems. White antirrhinums and carnations, together with artificial white poinsettias shone against the palm and artificial silver leaves.

Red and gold for Christmas came next on a short wrought iron stand. Feathery foliage all round made a foil for beautiful red roses. Red gerberas massed in the centre made a dramatic focal point. Red poinsettias were placed at the back of the arrangement. Western hemlock and ruscus foliage complimented gold sprayed aspidistra leaves.

At the end a snowman and brightly wrapped parcels appeared, covered with twinkling lights. A large bowl arrangement similar to the last one, was placed on a wooden sledge, on which finally Santa Claus was seated!

To put us even more in a waiting and festive mood mince pies were served wtih mulled wine.

Next meeting January 27, 2pm at Hanley Swan Village Hall. Visitors are welcome.
