THE Youth Concert held on Sunday, November 16 was advertised several weeks ago in the church Bulletin.

This year it was to take place in the School Hall, instead of the church, as in previous years.

There was no ticket cost this year but we were invited to make a donation to be divided between the Parish Youth Group and the poor pupils in the school in our Assistant Parish Priest Father Long Hoang Nguyen's home village in Vietnam.

A display of many interesting photographs of Fr Long's home village and its school were displayed.

Present at the concert were Parish Priest Mgr Patrick Kilgarriff and Mayor of Malvern Julian Roskams.

The concert commenced with a musical introduction on the piano and clarinet by brother and sister performers and was followed by a welcome from Fr Long.

The two young comperes then took the floor and introduced the rest of the concert.

The varied programme include pieces performed on the piano, clarinet, guitar, violin, cello, flute, saxophone and trumpet. There was a rendition of When I was a Lad by Si rArthury Sullivan and a beautiful Keralan dance performed in traditional Indian dress by a seven year old member of the parish.

At the interval tea and cakes were served by the young mums.

The second half of the concert opened with some Irish dancing and there were wonderful solos on the saxophone, trumpet and clarinet finishing with Songs from Vietnam.

Thanks should go to all those who organised this concert and took part in it for a lovely evening.
