THERE was a good attendance at the Remembrance Day Service held at the Memorial Hall last Sunday.

Reverend Howard Mayell led the worship, assisted by Amanda on the organ who ably played The Last Post and Reveille. The new Wellington Heath Parish chairman laid a wreath at the front, especially remembering those from the village who were killed in service during the wars.

Reverend Mayell handed all a copy of the pocket-size booklet which First World War servicemen had been given, and told the story of Singing Jim who had encountered Christ through reading his copy of St John’s gospel and who thereafter sang the hymns printed at the back of the booklet. Singing Jim gave his life for a fellow-soldier when he volunteered to leave the trench and rescue the wounded comrade. Greater love has no man than this, than that he lays down his life for his friends. (John 15:13).

Rehearsals for Hansel & Gretel: Half Baked continue with maddened frenzy. The pantomime is to be performed at the Memorial Hall at the end of the month, Thursday, November 27, Friday, November 28 at 7.30pm, and Saturday, November 29 at 6pm. Don’t forget to book your tickets, adults £8, children £3, and phone 01531 630005 or email: whads.boxoffice@gmail.com to secure your place.

Remember to diarise December 6, 10am-noon for Rudolph’s Christmas Fayre!

Have a lovely week.
