FOUR members attended the annual council meeting in Malvern and the first speaker was Steve Quartermain for the Wild Life Trust who spoke of the decline of the wild flower fields.

In this connection each WI was given a packet of wild flower seeds to mark the 100 years of the WI in 2015.

The next speaker was Dave Hedley a blind man who has taken on an amazing number of challenges including seven marathons across many continents despite his disability, a truly inspiring fellow.

In the afternoon Christine Walkden was speaker when she told her life story and is a well known celebrity on the TV gardening shows.

Other items of interest were that chairman Christine Hickman Smith is stepping down after three years and the commemorative baton that has been travelling around all the WIs in the country, was handed over to the West Midlands Federation.

Members held their 25th Anniversary Party on Wednesday, October 8 and treated themselves to a wine and cheese event, members also enjoyed a quiz and chat and it made a very happy evening for everyone.

The Christmas Meal this year will be at Boughton Golf Club on December 5 and will be held at lunchtime.

The next meeting on November 12 at 7pm will be a talk from The Barn Owl Trust.
