The Soup and Roll events held a St Peter’s Church on Saturday, September 20 was well supported and raised £239 for the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Fund and National Churches Trust.

Powick Primary School held its Harvest Service at St Peter’s church last Friday morning when the church had been decorated by the children’s art work. Special harvest songs were sung by the school pupils and stories of harvest around the world were presented. Year 6 children conducted a quiz and also led the prayers. The talk and blessing were given by Reader Julia Davis, the collection was in aid of Powick Church; the gifts of packaged and tinned goods were donated to Maggs Day Centre and St Paul’s Hostel, both in Worcester.

Powick and callow End churches held their Harvest Thanksgiving Services last Sunday, with Ros Davies conducting Powick’s, and Rev Ted Crofton leading the All Age Family Communion at St James’, Callow End.

A very successful event to mark Mental Health Week took place last Saturday in Powick parish Hall. The Celebration of Gardening and Horticulture, organised by the Friends of Link Nurseries, included plants, pickles and produce with raffle and a Gardening Tombola, and homemade cakes and bacon baps. Stalls included Link Nurseries home made preserves, Master Composters, Malvern & Upton beekeepers, and quilts made by the clients of Link Nurseries. Talks from the experts: Julie Richie (Hoo House Nursery) on Plant Propagation; Rachel Salisbury on The Really Useful Garden; Chris Reynard on Bees ; Fiona Hopes on the Therapeutic Value of Gardening; and a question & answer session with Duncan Coombes of Pershore College, were enjoyed. Over £1400 was raised for the Friends which supports the nurseries and its clients. Thank you all who attended and contributed to the day.

The Link Nurseries’ Friday Coffee Morning will take place today from 10am: come and enjoy more homemade cakes!

Powick Parish Hall’s Harvest Supper on Saturday 25 has now sold out of tickets. The grand buffet, charity raffle and entertainment by the Worcester Ukulele Club has proved to be an attraction! If you miss the Ukulele Club at this occasion, they will be performing on Saturday November 8 at Callow End Village Hall, tickets at £6 will include a hot supper and will be available from Jackie Bell (830061).
