A GRAND total of £300 was raised for Diabetes UK at the recent Village Cricket Day.

Many thanks to all! Your stiff backs and aching muscles were not in vain. That includes getting caught on the barbed-wire fence, Alex!

The Walking Group recently enjoyed a trip to Toddington where they boarded the steam train and chugged off, disembarking at Winchcombe. From there they headed back to Toddington on foot via a scenic route which included coffee at Sudeley Castle, exploring two old churches, the ruins of Haile Abbey, and a modest incline (quite an uphill!) until the downward run to the car park. The group meet on Thursdays and persons wishing to join should phone 01531 640617.

The month of October looks to be a busy one with plenty to do. A calligraphy course is starting on Wednesday mornings, 10.30am-12.30pm, and running through to December (phone 01531 630257).

On the evening of October 8, the Garden Club meet at the Memorial Hall where Leila Jackson will be the guest speaker. Her topic: The Versatile World of Salvias. Come along at 7.45pm, there will be a small fee at the door which includes refreshments. For more information, phone Margaret on 01531 635380.

David Fletcher will once more be intriguing the crowds with his talk on The North East Passage Across the Top of Russia, on Wednesday evening, October 15, 8pm, and again at the Memorial Hall. Entry £4.

It is proposed that The Common will be closed on Monday, October 21 & Tuesday, October 22 for road resurfacing.

The Tuesday morning Bible Study group will be starting a study on October 21, 10.15am, entitled: Personality Types- from a Biblical Perspective. If you are interested in what makes people tick and would like to join in, contact Brian on 01531 633540.
