Welland Arts and Crafts next meeting will take place at the Village Hall on Friday, October 10 at 7:30pm. It will feature local artist, Tony Leahy. Who will speak on A life in Art. All will be made very welcome.

The next St James Flea Markets will be on Saturday, October 4 and will be held on the first Saturday of each month through to, and including, March 2015. Times 9am to 3pm. Tables cost £10 for the day. To book a table contact Mary Purser on 01684 310289. All proceeds to St James Church.

Welland Primary School’s Open Morning will be held on Saturday, October 4 from 10am until noon This is the school’s opportunity for parents with children approaching school age to visit, to see the school and its many fine facilities. Features of the Open Morning will include a performance by the School’s Choir, children’s cookery, time to play on the ipads and a visit to the Woodland Wonder where children can hunt for bugs and make dens. Visitor tours of the school will be led by pupils in Year Six, whilst school staff and members of the Governing Body will be available to talk to parents and answer any questions. The Open Morning is a relaxed, informal, but vital opportunity for prospective parents to visit Welland Primary School to get a good feel for the positive, warm and caring ethos that exists there. Welland Primary School has high expectations of all its pupils and strives endlessly to help pupils reach their aspirations, their goals, and their ambitions whilst at the same time enjoying their primary school days. During the Open Morning, the school’s highly supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will be offering refreshments and the hot school meal provider will be offering a sample of their food too. The school’s motto? Welland, where it’s fun to learn.

Advance notice: The St Wulstan’s Church Christmas Bazaar will be held this year on Wednesday, December 3 at the Parish Hall. More details will be published in due course, but you are encouraged to note the date in your diaries now, for what is always an excellent event. All the usual popular stalls will be present plus some others, giving those attending a good choice of items for presents and the chance to stock the larder for the festive season.
