A MEETING of the Hot peppers WI was held on Wednesday, August 27.

This was a garden party, held in the lovely garden of Peter and Peggy Booth, to celebrate the first anniversary of the group. Members contributed food and liquor which was enjoyed by all.

Cathy Bester welcomed guests and members and then outlined various forthcoming events. The boat trip for the hand-over of the Centenary Baton, the Upton Garden Club Show and the Medieval Fayre. She also summarised the past 12 months. What a year it has been since June 2013!

Nolene Twist gave the financial report, which showed a good balance. This was due to the members themselves, who had made cakes and provided their time to man the stalls at the Jazz Festival, The Upton Blues and lastly the Sunshine Festival. The latter had been an outstanding success with people returning from the previous year to enjoy the goodies, so much so, that members even ran out of our supply of cakes. The marquee, tables and chairs which the club had purchased, provided an excellent place to enjoy the background sounds of a very enjoyable festival.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 24 in the Church Rooms at 7.30pm. It will be Harvest Inspirations, when members can observe different methods of preserving the abundance of wonderful fruits which are available in this beautiful area of Worcestershire.
