MAN Friday style footprints (and a lot else!) will be reappearing on the pavements of West Malvern next weekend, signalling the return of the popular and now well established annual village Arts Festival.

Starting on Friday afternoon August 15 from 2pm-7pm, it will continue on Saturday, August 16th and Sunday, August 17 from 11am-6pm both days.

More than 70 artists from Worcestershire and Herefordshire will be displaying their work at a wide range of locations, from gazebos, private garages, and garden walls to larger venues including the Elim College, the church, the school, and The Brewers Arms. As well as the footprints, improved signage and balloons will guide visitors to the exhibits, which will be under cover in the event of wet weather. .

Admission is free to all exhibits, which will be largely manned by the artists themselves, some of whom will be taking commissions. Paintings will make up most of the work, but other media such as sculpture, jewellery, glassware, calligraphy and photography will be on show, most of it also for sale.

Musical entertainment will be laid on, with a Saturday recital by John Raine on the organ of St James’s Church on, followed later by the West Malvern Voices at the Brewers Arms at 5pm. Two singing groups will also be performing in the church on Sunday.

Refreshments will be available at some venues. These include the village hall, where West Malvern WI are organising a Craft Market on Sunday, August 17 from 11am-4pm, with a variety of stalls will be selling crafts from bunting to baskets and cards to cushions. Here too there will be free admission, with hot drinks and home-made cakes and bakeries for sale. All round, a weekend not to be missed!

The saga of The Lamb site continues, with a third planning application having been submitted, as reported in last week’s Gazette. Those interested in the future of this important site can view the latest plan on the MHDC website, application no. 14/00844/FUL. The earlier applications were no 13/00403 and no. 12/ 01105.
