POOL Piece has now been officially opened as a recreational area for all village residents and you will see that the bridges, swings, shelter and benches are all in place.

Eighty-five year old Betty Allsopp who has lived in the village all her life, did the honours by cutting the ribbon, and David Darwood gave an opening speech. Thanks to him and the team for all their hard work regarding this project.

There was a good turn out of village folk who brought along their picnic-baskets and sat back to enjoy the entertainment provided by the junior WHADS, Richard Allsopp, and singers Simon and Sean. All residents are welcome to make use of the sport-equipment that has been placed in the wooden box on the far side of the area. Anyone for a game of outdoor badminton?

This Sunday afternoon is Open Garden Day from 2pm-6pm, adults pay £5 and children under 12 may attend at no cost. This price includes entry into Hope End School House, 1 Oak Tree Close, The View (Ochre Hill), and The Old Vicarage. Please don’t bring your dogs. A real treat is in store for all who come along!

Church services continue as usual at Christ Church, 9.30am Sunday and Wednesday.

For all going away on holiday, have a safe and happy trip. For those remaining behind, enjoy the lovely summer.
