ELLEN Gwynne welcomed members and guests to the July garden meeting at Dale Cottage Farm, Brockamin, Leigh.

Following the business and confirmation of dates and times of our forthcoming activity groups, Ellen introduced Alex Stevenson of Dale Cottage Farm.

Alex explained the benefits of conditioning garden flowers correctly and gave a demonstration on how to produce two lovely arrangements, one hand-held and the other a hostess arrangement. Alex managed to make these look very easy to produce, and she kindly donated them to the raffle.

The weather was warm and dry and members were able to walk around and admire the plentiful flower and vegetable beds and generally enjoy the tranquillity of the Worcestershire cottage farm Alex and her husband Rob have worked hard to create. Following a vote of thanks Alex served delicious home made cakes.

Date of next meeting – Tuesday, August 5, 7.30pm at Leigh & Bransford Memorial Hall when Professor Maggie Andrews will talk about the role of women during the First World War.
