Powick Ramblers’ walk next week is on Wednesday, July 16 meeting at 10am at the Farmers Arms, Wellington heath (GR711402) post code HR8 1LS. This five mile walk will have good views to the Black Mountains and Hay Bluff. It will visit Coddington Village, Oyster Hill, and through Hope End estate where Elizabeth Barrett lived for 23 years before eloping with Robert Browning. Phil (01886 832774) will lead the walk.

On Friday, July 18 a three mile evening walk will leave the New Inn, Storridge at 6pm with Garth leading (01886 833362).

Last Sunday morning babies Lincoln and Poppy were in St Peter’s church for a service of Thanksgiving. Later in the service little Poppy Georgina Susan was baptised by Reverend Sue Irwin with family and friends present. This coming Sunday, July 13 at 11am an informal service to mark Sea Sunday will be held at St Peter’s church and will be led by Meg Allsopp.

Please book this date: Powick Church fete is planned for Saturday, July 26 and will take place this year in and around the church. Background music will be provided by duo Morning Dew and drummers Koreduga, and all the usual stalls will provide bargains, including cakes, plants, bric-a-brac, toys, books, raffle and tombola, plus cream teas and ice cream.
