THANKS go to Guy our vice chairman who presided over a well attended meeting in the absence of our chairman who was on holiday.
The meeting was able to finalise the details for our forthcoming fund raising event for the Poppy Appeal to be held on the revised date of Saturday, May 24 at Powick Parish Hall.
We will be holding a Grand Coffee Morning combined with a bring and buy event and will have numerous and varied items for sale including the obligatory cake stall.
Refreshments will be available at a very reasonable price and we hope as many people come as possible to support us in this rather special commemorative year of 2014.
After the business meeting was concluded, our members were entertained by Major Peter James MBE (Retired) who gave an illustrated talk on his wartime experiences in Hong Kong and a subsequent visit to China more recently; when he was able to see the fantastic exhibition of the Terracotta Warriors.
Our next meeting will be at Madresfield Club on Tuesday, May 13 at 8.15pm and it will be a Bring an Interesting Object Evening.
