THE Meeting on Thursday, March 2 was given over to the Annual General Meeting followed by crafts.

With our numbers it is difficult to find a full committee and some members have given sterling service over the years. Thanks were given to Anthea for all the years she has worked as Secretary and much more and also to Pam for continuing the good work over the last year, acting as Chairman and Treasurer. We are hoping for new members to give encouragement to those currently taking part. If you ever were a Guide or not, do come along and try us!

The next meeting is on Thursday, April 24 at 7.30pmat Viscount Cobham Court, Pickersleigh Road, when Gerry and Pauline Edwards will be speaking about Talking Books for the Blind. The good work they undertake helps to end the isolation of sight loss and helps people to live with it. My own father was greatly helped in his later years by this service, which gave him the chance to choose from a catalogue. The books were delivered and when sent back the next of his choices arrived. I am very grateful for the work Gerry and Pauline undertake and hope non members will come along to hear of another service run by volunteers.
