Ali's future is looking bright after landing careers fair job
4:10pm Tuesday 6th March 2012 in Business News
AN unemployed man who secured a job following a careers fair looks set for a bright future.
Ali Smart, aged 30, of Worcester, had previously worked in several different jobs from sales to construction. When his girlfriend became pregnant he moved back to the Midlands to be near family and found himself unemployed.
When searching the local paper for jobs Ali noticed there was a careers fair being held locally. Ali met Bright Assessing, based in Alcester, at the career’s fair. He received an information pack and went home to research the world of NVQ assessing. He was motivated by the amount of assessing jobs that he found on the internet and, after speaking to a Bright course adviser, decided to sign up for the assessers’ course.
Ali said: “I chose to train with Bright because the advice they offered was impartial and they really seemed to know what they were talking about.”
Ali completed the course in six weeks with the help and support of his mentor.
Not long after completing the course he applied for the new trainer’s position he saw advertised with Bright and was successful in getting the job. Rachel George, training manager for Bright, said: “I thought Ali was very enthusiastic and confident when delivering the presentation. He will make an excellent trainer as he is positive and very approachable. He has trained with Bright and has been unemployed himself so fully understands the learner and their needs.”
The Jobs & Careers fair takes place at the Guildhall in the High Street, Worcester, on Thursday, March 22. Event sponsor Bright Assessing will again be on hand to offer advice on assessing as a career. Visit them on the day or to find out more visit brightassessing. com or call 0845 116 2585.
