A DEFIBRILLATOR for use by the Blackminster business park community in the event of an emergency cardiac arrest has been officially unveiled by representatives of the many businesses based at the park.

The defibrillator was financed through the generosity of the business park owner Paul Middleton and Herefordshire-based charity Four Acre Trust who match funded the cost of the defibrillator, along with the West Midlands Ambulance Service First Responders who provided the defibrillator.

Paul’s daughter, Julie, said: “We are a growing business park and we wanted to provide our community with a defibrillator.

"I am aware how valuable this equipment is in saving lives and now having one available for the whole community is fantastic.

“It has been a lot of work getting to this point and I would like to thank all concerned, in particular, Peter Andrews the manager of Roundabout the furniture

reuse charity based at the business park.

“He came forward with the proposal and put me in contact with Hereford and Worcester Community

First Responder trustee Sue Watkins who arranged the supply of the defibrillator.”

The defibrillator is located outside the Potted Pantry cafe an easily accessible location in the centre of the business park. The defibrillator is available to

use 24 hours a day.

HWCFR trustee Sue Watkins said: “We would like to thank everyone in the community who supported this initiative.

"When someone goes into cardiac arrest, early medical intervention can significantly increase their

chances of survival.”

A first aid evening was also hosted by the West Midlands Ambulance Service who provided instruction in the use of the defibrillator.
