A WORCESTER garden centre has raised more than £1,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Laylocks Garden Centre, in Bromyard Road, had a Santa's Grotto at Christmas and sold sunflowers grown in the fields.

Laylocks has been supporting the Midlands Air Ambulance charity through the grotto for more than five years, but decided to raise more through the sale of sunflowers, for the charity in its 25th anniversary year.

Overall £1,876 was raised and Cliff Wood, who has worked at the garden centre for 30 years, visited the charity's Strensham airbase to present the donation to the aircrew.

Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising manager for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Laylocks has been a fantastic supporter of the charity since 2011, and its field of sunflowers was a really lovely sight, which raised vital funds for our air ambulance operations.”

Laylocks have now reseeded their fields with sunflowers seeds, in order to continue to raise funds for the charity in 2017.
