SEVERN Trent Water (STW), which has millions of customers across the Midlands including in Worcestershire, continues to offer the lowest average bill in the county, figures released have shown.

STW customers pay less than £1 a day for their clean and water waste services, the new combined bill proving to be the lowest in the country.

Liv Garfield, STW chief executive, said: "For less than a pound a day, we supply our customers with 75 million litres of water every hour of every day, and take away 32,000 litres of waste water every second.

“We’ve also been able to reduce external sewer floodings by nine per cent year-on-year, and we’ve trebled the number of vulnerable customers supported.

“Alongside that, we’re making very good progress on the Birmingham Resilience Project, which is our biggest ever scheme, and have started work on the £60m Newark scheme which is designed to protect hundreds of customers.

“In addition, we’ve taken on board record numbers of graduates and apprentices to help us build not only tomorrow’s assets but also tomorrow’s engineers because we’re always aware of the legacy that we’re both protecting and building for the future.”
