COMMUNICATIONS company drp has won a major award for a film produced by the video arm of the group.

At the annual CorpComms Awards, which is now in its eleventh year, drpvideo won best use of video for its film Pull Through. The film was also shortlisted for the best communications by a public sector organisation award at the event at the Troxy in London, which attracted more than 500 top industry professionals from the world of corporate communications.

drpvideo collaborated with West Midlands Ambulance Service to produce Pull Through. Shot at Stourport Boat Club, with club members as extras, the short documentary re-created the moment rowing club member Ian Hough suffered a cardiac arrest during the annual regatta, showing how the presence of a defibrillator on site saved his life. The film and its message formed the core of a wider PR and marketing campaign by WMAS to encourage sports clubs around the country to introduce defibrillators as part of their first aid equipment.

Director of drpvideo Dagmar Mackett said: "Pull Through was extremely close to our hearts and we felt proud to be able to help WMAS’ invaluable campaign. We knew the film was very good but didn’t quite expect the huge impact it had. To be recognised at the CorpComms Awards like this, to win in one of two very prestigious categories, is absolutely amazing and well deserved for the team.”
