WORCESTER Repertory Company is currently celebrating its tenth year of Worcester Rep at the Commandery with a 1920's themed razzmatazz take on Oscar Wilde’s comic classic The Importance of Being Earnest.

It could also have the sub-title "The Importance of Being a Sponsor", because the annual outdoor event has grown year on year since it launched back in 2007, but could not continue without the huge amount of support received from local businesses.

This year, no less than eight Worcester-based firms are sponsoring the event, each receiving a night of VIP hospitality in return, as well as a range of marketing and publicity opportunities.

Representatives from Chamberlain & Co., Worcester Bosch, King’s School Worcester, the University of Worcester, John Yelland & Company Chartered Accountants, Child Care Bureau, Worcester Family Law Practice and Harrison Clark Rickerbys Solicitors, the eight sponsoring companies, gathered in the Commandery gardens ahead of opening night to meet director Chris Jaeger and the eight-strong cast.

Jonathan Brew, senior partner at Harrison Clark Rickerbys, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the arts in Worcester in this way – our Worcester roots run deep and we are keen to see the city flourish in every way. The Commandery is a marvellous setting for the performances and they are always very enjoyable.”

John Yelland of John Yelland & Company chartered accountants, one of four companies to have sponsored Worcester Rep at the Commandery for all ten years, added: "What a wonderful way to spend a summer’s evening with friends, being entertained by professional actors in the garden of a medieval manor house. An enriching experience.” The King’s School Worcester, Worcester Bosch and the University of Worcester are the other three sponsors to have supported the event every year since its launch.

The Importance of Being Earnest runs until Sunday, July 24. For more information or to book tickets contact the box office on 01905 611427 or visit www.worcesterlive.co.uk.
