A DROITWICH therapy training school has gained Government funding to help the over 24s gain a foothold in the profession.

JBH Training at Wychbold has joined a national partnership to receive the funding from September to offer level three and level four courses through the 24+ advanced loan scheme, which will enable students not usually able to access courses, the opportunity to enter into a professional career.

The loans are open to anyone age 24 and over for tuition fees which are then paid back on earning at least £21,000 a year. Those with lower incomes are entitled to a bursary for childcare, equipment, travel and accommodation if required.

Jennifer Barnes-Hill, who runs JHB Training, said: "I am over the moon that I have this opportunity as I have always enjoyed supporting mature students who may have not had the best experience of education. Seeing them grow in their confidence and abilities to get them where they want to be is amazing

"I am also pleased to have formed a partnership with another small local business to use The Stables Conference and Meeting Venue, Wychbold to run the courses from which is a beautiful rural stable conversion yet situated conveniently at junction five of the M5. I hope to offer a five star experience for students and qualified therapists attending the courses."

The courses include two new level four programmes which have just been launched in the UK Level four providing therapies for cancer care and life limiting conditions and level four complementary therapies. Other programmes of study include level three in make-up artistry, beauty therapy massage, nail technology, complementary therapy and mat-based pilates instructors, level four salon management and level three and four sports massage therapy.

Mrs Barnes-Hill is an experienced university and college lecturer who recently came runner up in two national therapy awards in the tutor of the year and best school of natural therapy categories.
