A WORCESTER guest house is doubling in size after buying the business next door.

Rumandeep Sandhu and Gurpreet Sandhu, who own Abbeydore Guest House in Barbourne Road, have acquired the neighbouring Knights Rest Guest House with the help of a £610,000 financial package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. Following the acquisition, the company, which was founded in 2006, now has 20 guest rooms available each night and three new jobs have been created.

Both houses offer comfortable, quality bed and breakfast accommodation, and are within walking distance of the city centre and racecourse. Mr Sandhu said: "After running Abbeydore Guest House successfully for almost ten years, we felt the time was right to expand, and when the neighbouring business was placed up for sale, it was an opportunity we knew we couldn’t turn down. The help of Lloyds Bank has been absolutely invaluable throughout this process, and we look forward to working with the team as we move forward with our growth ambitions, and welcome new visitors to both properties.”

Indi Malhi, business manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, added: “The availability of a neighbouring property offered Abbeydore Guest House a rare opportunity to expand on the site where it has achieved so much success since 2006, and we’re pleased to have supported its ambitions by providing this financial package. This expansion underlines our commitment to supporting small, local enterprises that are creating employment opportunities within the region and we wish Rumandeep and Gurpreet the very best as they move forward with their expanded business.”
