A WORCESTER firm is encouraging people to set their financial and personal affairs in order at the start of the year by writing a will.

mfg Solicitors LLP, based in The Tything, Worcester, is offering a special will writing service in February with donations for wills made to St Richard’s Hospice.

A similar offer last year proved very popular as people took the opportunity to document their wishes in the event of their death and raised almost £3,500 in donations for St Richard’s.

This year, the firm is again offering its services for free to those wishing to write a simple will, with suggested donations to the hospice of £90 for a single will or £140 for a double.

Amanda Piper, Associate at mfg Solicitors LLP, said; “The promotion was a huge success last year, with many people being able to have their wills drafted and at the same time raising money to help St Richard’s continue to provide the specialist care that is so important to the Worcestershire area. I hope that this year’s promotion will be as successful”.

She added; “Writing a will is extremely important at whichever stage of life you are. If you don’t have a will when you die, your money, property and possessions will be shared out according to the law instead of your wishes.

"By writing a will you can ensure that they will be distributed in the way you want.”

Rachel Jones, fundraising manager at St Richard’s Hospice, said; “We are very grateful to mfg for supporting St Richard’s in this way. It’s a great way to help members of the community as well as bring in much-needed funds for our work caring for patients and families.”
