HOMEWARE retailer HomeSense really got into the Christmas spirit by raising more than £4000 for Action for Children’s Sunshine Children's Centre and Worcester City Early Help.

Over the festive period, customers at the company's store on Elgar Retail Park in Worcester were asked to make a donation to Action for Children in exchange for a Christmas bauble, on which they could write a message or childhood Christmas memory before hanging it on a special HomeSense Christmas tree.

The campaign raised £4295 in Worcester for the charity’s Sunshine Children's Centre, part of Malvern Hills Early Help and Worcester City Early Help. The Early Help project offers support, advice and positive activities for young people up to 19 years old and their families so they can make informed choices that have a positive impact on their lives.

Sue Rogers, head of service for Worcester City Early Help said: “We were thrilled to be involved with the HomeSense Hang A Bauble initiative. This year we will be using it to form a family fund that support workers will be able to access to purchase essential items for children and families when they are in crisis. This could be baby milk, nappies, play resources, uniforms, travel support or essential household items such bedding, cooking equipment.”

Jackie Ball, head of high value fundraising at Action for Children, added: “We are extremely grateful to HomeSense customers in Worcester for their wonderful support of Action for Children through our Christmas Hang A Bauble campaign. This Christmas, HomeSense staff and customers have tirelessly raised an incredible £176,819 for Action for Children across the UK, more than ever before. This generous donation will directly support the most vulnerable children and young people in their local communities.”
