A WORCESTERSHIRE-based importer of oak and solid wood furniture has moved its headquarters to Malvern.

Hallowood Furniture has purchased premises on Enigma Business Park through a commercial mortgage from HSBC, relocating from its previous base near Droitwich.

Started in 2008, the business imports high-quality furniture from China, which it then sells through its eight stores across the country. In addition, HSBC has provided the business with a trade facility to increase the number of products it imports and sells. Hallowood has also opened two new stores in Stourbridge and Banbury, creating a further seven jobs.

Mengyao Wu, company owner and financial director, said: “HSBC’s support has enabled us to fund our first commercial property, marking the start of an exciting new stage in the development of the business. Along with the new trade facility, this move will allow us to grow further and achieve our ambition of adding five new stores over the next year.”

Andy Willett, area director for HSBC Business Banking in South West Midlands, said: “We are committed to helping British businesses realise their growth ambitions. Hallowood Furniture is still a young business and I am pleased we have been able to fund their new headquarters and expansion into new markets at home and abroad.”
