MARK Wright, last year's winner of television show The Apprentice, it to "referee" a charity rugby dinner to raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice.

He will compere the event at Evesham's Wood Norton hotel, which is being held on the night of the England v Australia Rugby World Cup game on Saturday, October 3. In his role as host, Mark will be a focal point of the evening, directing commentary between ex-international players Shaun Perry (Worcester Warriors) and Jason Hobson (London Wasps), while engaging guests in light-hearted competitive banter.

He said: “I love rugby as much as the next guy, and couldn’t be more excited to host such a fun and worthwhile event. Acorns is an amazing charity that helps so many families across the West Midlands and I am in great hope that we can raise as much money as possible to support its vital work.”

Shaun Perry understands the importance of the charity’s work with children and young people and their families, having spent several years as an ambassador for the charity when playing for Worcester Warriors.

He added: “Being an ambassador for Acorns, I welcomed the opportunity to meet so many inspiring young children and families who I will genuinely never forget. I am delighted to be representing and supporting the charity again, and can’t wait to see what happens in that all important match.”

The evening includes a lavish drinks reception, three course themed dinner, and opportunity to watch the England v Australia match on the big screen.

After full-time all guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet the speakers and provide additional support to the charity through a silent auction with top prizes donated by the Morgan Motor Company, Aston Villa FC, Worcester Warriors and Champagne Taittinger. Tickets are £49.95 per person and can be purchased via a donation to Acorns directly.
