WORCESTERSHIRE Ambassadors has named its chosen charities for 2015.

It will be fund raising for two, Worcestershire Prostate Awareness and Worcestershire Royal Hospital’s Rory the Robot appeal, which is targetting £1.6m for a state of the art robotic machine used in prostate treatment. The pair were selected from a shortlist by the Ambassador's board.

The organisation's chairman Vince Hopkins said: "WPA and Rory the Robot are exceptional organisations. They do phenomenal work here in our county with prostate issues, which are a significant consideration for all men over 45. With the business and financial support of the Ambassadors , we are increasing the number and regularity of testing opportunities around the county. Chawson Barns in Droitwich has been selected for free testing on the morning of Saturday, April 25 and the Bank House Hotel , Bransford has also volunteered to host as a venue free of charge. Other sites are also being sought.

“There were 177 men tested at Worcester Rugby Club in February. Of these, 165 men were ‘green’ however seven were ‘amber’ and five were ‘red’. These statistics speak more powerfully than words. Thank goodness this service was available to test them here in Worcestershire."

Worcestershire Ambassadors is supporting both charities with a series of fundraising initiatives and events over the coming 12 months, including the Ambassadors’ Ball in October 2015. To date, the Ambassadors has donated more than quarter of a millions pounds to charities across the county.
