HER studio was bursting at the seams when innovative artist Caro Sweet held a VIP opening night party to showcase her new autumn collection.

Guests from throughout the West Midlands arrived at the studio at Bransford, near Worcester for the preview and to see Ms Sweet's newest bronze sculptures on display for the first time. A number of small bronze works, one of which has won international acclaim, were accompanied by vibrant drawings and paintings.

"I have been pulling out all the stops to get my new body of work finished in time to show visitors at an open studio event during Herefordshire Art Week," she explained. "I wanted to get well ahead as I have a show in a gallery in Ipswich in December. It seems a long time off, but it’s amazing how much last minute preparation is needed to make a good show.“

The studio exhibition includes a display of her students’ work in a variety of styles and media, created during sculpture classes held at the studio throughout the year. ”Everyone puts a lot into their creativity during the sculpture classes, I am proud to show what they have achieved,” Ms Sweet added.

As well as viewing Caro Sweet's latest sculptures, visitors can discover what goes on inside a sculpture studio, see her current work in progress and a treasure trove of charcoal working drawings and prints. The open studio event ends on Sunday, September 14 and is open daily between 10.30am – 5pm. Admission is free.
