HOW about the clever clogs from accounts joining together with the chatty chaps in advertising to form a Dragon Boat crew for a Worcester event.

Local businesses are being asked to enter crews for the river races at Worcester Severn Festival on Saturday, August 30. Organised by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce it aims to celebrate the ancient lifeblood of the city with an arts, crafts, food and drink market and musical entertainment from Youthcomm throughout the day,

Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club is also offering local companies and organisations the opportunity to get actively involved in the event. In partnership with Worcester Rowing Club, it will be hosting an array of boat races and is appealing for local businesses to compete in one of the Dragon Boat races.

"With a long history dating back to China nearly 2000 years ago, Dragon Boat racing is a great team sport and putting in a group of your colleagues or friends and family is a fantastic way to keep fit, have fun and learn all about how to work together to make the boat go faster," said Jenni Henderson, one of the organisers. "Today it is one of the largest participation sports in the world, with countries from five continents taking part in racing events and championships. Members of Worcester Dragons are also part of the Great Britain team that participates in European and World Championship events."

The club is looking for teams of 16-20 people per boat to take part in the racing event on the day. Training will be provided along with paddles, a helm and drummer.
