IT'S full steam ahead at Severn Valley Railway after more than 100 people registered their interest in volunteering at the heritage attraction during a job fair. The Railway hosted a volunteer job fair at Kidderminster Station to coincide with its members and shareholders weekend. Jobs on offer included train crew, booking offices, footplate/motive power department, SVR charitable trust, carriage and wagon and station staff.
A total of 33 names and addresses were also recorded by the volunteer liaison office on the day to go forward for induction courses and one person was even given a date to begin their training. Additional attractions at the fair included an engine in steam, a diesel locomotive and a brake coach/wagon in the platform, which visitors could view while chatting to volunteers about the various roles on offer. Diesel multiple unit shuttles also ran to the carriage shed and diesel depot.
