IF you haven't cycled for some time, don't worry, the technique's still the same, one leg either side and press down on the pedals. But even if you're Bradley Wiggins incarnate, you should find something to suit at the fun/serious bike ride organised by Worcester technology company Postcode Anywhere on Saturday, May 31. Because the event to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance covers rides of four, 15 or 50 miles depending on individual cycling ability.

"Families are particularly welcome as the four mile route should be ideal for younger, less experienced riders or those who haven't cycled for some time and want to join in the fun," said Postcode Anywhere’s PR manager Natalie Green, who has helped organise the event . "Midlands Air Ambulance is an essential emergency service and you never know when you might need it. Two years ago my father was working on a three storey building roof and suffered a heart attack and basically owes his life to the Midlands Air Ambulance crew who rescued him. It would have been impossible for a road ambulance team of paramedics or even the Fire Brigade to access him, lift him to safety and transport him to hospital.”

The idea behind Postcode Anywhere’s event, which starts at Norton Parish Hall from 9.30am, is to stage a fun day out that will encourage families and friends to pursue some healthy exercise, as well as helping to raise money for an excellent cause. Food, drink and additional activities taking place on the day around Parish Hall and friends and spectators are welcome.

Annie Newell, regional fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance, added: “Each air ambulance mission costs us £2,500, which is raised soley through donations from the general public and local businesses, so we are delighted to receive such a terrific level of support from the team at Postcode Anywhere. Their family bike ride will be a great day out and will also help to raise funds to enable our service to continue to operate, so I’d encourage anyone looking for an activity to entertain the kids on the Bank Holiday weekend to find out more.”
