MALVERN'S new Greenpeace group celebrated its launch in the company of celebrity green campaigner Brigit Strawbridge.

Brigit, who starred with her family in the BBC series It's Not Easy Being Green, joined members for a cake-cutting ceremony during the Homes 4 Now event at the Council House on Saturday, October 14.

“Everyone who came to see us was very positive and many feel that Malvern is long overdue its own group.”

Chairman Ginny Lee said the launch had attracted a great deal of interest.

"We had more than 30 people sign up for the group, which is a fantastic success," she said. "Everyone who came to see us was very positive and many feel that Malvern is long overdue its own group."

Malvern Greenpeace holds its first official meeting at The Lamb, in West Malvern, on Thursday, November 2, from 7-9pm, when the group will decide what local issues it wants to address.
