Poet comp is no worry for Rowan

A SIXTH form student from The Chase School, in Malvern, has been selected as Worcestershire’s Young Poet Laureate for 2012.

Rowan Standish-Hayes was assessed alongside 13 other young poets at the Number 8 Theatre in Pershore where his poem A Street Called Worry was particularly well received.

Rowan was praised by the judges for his excellent imagery and delivery. They also felt that he would appeal to a wide range of young people. He will be invited to read at a number of events throughout the year.
