LIB Dems on Malvern Hills District Council are confident the council's planning system can deal with issues of flash-flooding when detailed applications for the development of North Site come up.
As reported in the Gazette last week, North Malvern residents fear proposals to build 465 houses at the former Army base could overload the drainage system and cause floods similar to those seen two weeks ago.
Persimmon Homes has outline permission to develop the site, but still needs to get detailed permission, which will cover issues like drainage.
The Lib Dem group on MHDC met on Saturday to discuss the issue.
Coun Clive Smith said he could not comment on the plans in advance of any meeting but was sure the planning system was robust enough to allow a full examination of the issues.
