MORE than 140 breeds of dog will be competing for the title Best In Show at a championship dog show at the Three Counties Showground this weekend.
Thousands of dogs will be taking part and the winning dogs will qualify for next year’s Crufts as the Three Counties Agricultural Society Dog Shows is licensed by the Kennel Club.
Various breeds of pedigree dogs have been judged this week in categories such as Hounds and Terriers, Gundogs and Toy Dogs and the winning dogs from each group will be competing for the prestigious Best in Show award at the climax of the show tomorrow evening (Saturday June 11).
There were more than 7,500 entries to the show, which is 600 up on last year.
The show also includes the Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme Stakes with classes open to any variety of dog and open to all GCDS bronze award achievers. The prize money is 1st £50, 2nd £25, 3rd £10 and 4th £5.
Three Counties Agricultural Society secretary Jackie Lane said: “Visitors are welcome to come along for free with free parking.”
Dogs cannot be left in cars so there is a dog creche for non-competing dogs.
