A PLANNING application to turn a pub off the main Hereford-Worcester road into a domestic dwelling has been approved.
The application, for the Prancing Pony, at Stifford's Bridge, was submitted to Herefordshire Council by Mr and Mrs R White.
The pub, formerly known as the Seven Stars, has been closed for some time.
Mark Haslam, spokesman for the local branch of CAMRA said: “CAMRA has expressed its grave misgivings to the council about the unsatisfactory marketing of the pub. However, we also note that there is no appetite to seek its retention by the local community.
"It needs to be acknowledged that the Red Lion, located immediately opposite, already provides a far superior amenity. The Prancing Pony has been operating at half-speed or less for years, and in these circumstances we doubt that there is much merit in it continuing to operate as a pub.”
