YOUNGSTERS at Madresfield CE Primary School enjoyed an encounter with the unknown as they took part in ‘Space Week’.

When they arrived at school on Monday morning pupils were informed that an alien had landed in a wildlife area near the school pond, and that the area had been sealed off for safety as there were bits of spacecraft strewn around the site.

With the mood set pupils then enjoyed a varied week of activities before the extra terrestrial managed to leave and make its way home later in the week.

Headteacher Debbie Langston explained: “Children were involved in making their own mini aliens, de-coding cryptic messages, making meteorite and moon rock cakes, designing space ships, working in a ‘black hole’ and writing messages, creative writing and instructions to try and communicate with our visitor.”

Another highlight of the week was the arrival of some rare samples of moon rock, lunar dust and meteorites, kindly loaned by UK Science and Technology Facilities Council.
